    יָסַת (cmp. אֲסִי a. עָשָׂה) to do habitually.Denom. וֶסֶת, הֶיסֵּת. Hif. הִסִּית, הֵסִית (b. h., by way of syncope, forms resembling Kal of סית, as יְסִיתְךָ = יֵיסִי׳, וַיָּסֶת = וַיַּסֶּת to cause to do, stir up, instigate. Sot.35a (expl. ויהס … אל, Num. 13:30) הִסִּיתָן בדברים (he quieted them, because) he (apparently) instigated them (against Moses). Ḥag.5a עבד שמַסִּיתִין עליו רבו ונִיסַּתוכ׳ Ms. M. (ed. שרבו מסיתין לו) a slave against whom they incite his master and he (the master) is influenced by the instigation (ed.: a slave whose master, when they incite him, yields), what help is there for him?B. Gen. 127 (play on נ̇פ̇ת̇ל̇י) (read:) נִׄיסֵּיתִי פּׄוּתֵּיתֵי ת̇ל̇יתיוכ׳ I was prevailed upon, I was per suaded, I gave my sister the preference over myself; Gen. R. s. 71 (corr. acc.).
